Burned Node

A browser-native, modernized take on the classic terminal-hacking sim genre. You're a freelance hacker working contracts for a hacktivist collective, a megacorp, an AI-safety NGO, and a state cyber division — bouncing connections through proxy nodes, cracking passwords, dodging trace timers, and building (or burning) your reputation across all of them. Modern-web flavor is baked into the world itself: a Twitter-alike social feed reacts to what you do, missions revolve around AI labs and deepfakes as much as banks and shell companies, and a purchasable AI co-pilot ("ORACLE") occasionally auto-completes a crack for you — a limited number of times per in-game day, never guaranteed, and never shy about narrating it either way.

Get caught and the consequences scale with how hardened the target was: a fine on something low-security, a hardware seizure and a trip back to Tier 1 gear on something tougher, or — on the highest-security targets — arrest. Arrest is permanent: your identity is burned, your save resets, and you start over as someone new. Story missions can also be failed outright if the trace catches you mid-job, not just abandoned.
